U.S. President Donald Trump announced that U.S. airstrikes on Sunday have “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s main nuclear enrichment facilities, warning of further action if Tehran does not seek peace.
In a televised address from the White House, Trump hailed the attacks as a “spectacular military success.” The strikes targeted Iran’s Fordow nuclear enrichment plant, along with facilities in Natanz and Isfahan.
The U.S. military involvement comes despite previous assurances from Trump to avoid further entanglements in the Middle East. Iran had vowed retaliation if Washington intervened in the ongoing conflict.
“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace,” Trump stated during his address, flanked by Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
He added, “If they do not, future attacks will be far greater, and a lot easier.”
Earlier, on his Truth Social platform, Trump revealed that a “full payload of BOMBS” was dropped on the underground facility at Fordow, referring to it as the “primary site.” He also confirmed that “all planes are safely on their way home.”
Local media reports suggest that the U.S. intervention may provoke retaliation from Tehran against U.S. forces and installations across the region.
The U.S. air raids occurred nine days after Israel launched attacks on Iran on June 13.
