UN Chief Denounces Israeli Strikes on Gaza Aid Facilities

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes that targeted UN facilities in Gaza, including a warehouse used by the World Health Organization (WHO). During a high-level debate at the UN Security Council in New York on Tuesday, Guterres described the attacks as “appalling” and expressed deep outrage.

“These actions are unacceptable and undermine essential humanitarian efforts in the region,” Guterres stated. He emphasized the urgent need for all parties to respect international law and protect civilians and aid workers.

The strikes on aid facilities have raised concerns about the escalating conflict in Gaza and its impact on vulnerable populations relying on humanitarian assistance. The WHO warehouse, crucial for storing medical supplies, was among the facilities damaged, potentially hindering aid to those in need.

The UN chief called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged the international community to support efforts toward a peaceful resolution. He highlighted the importance of protecting aid workers and ensuring that humanitarian operations can continue without obstruction.
