Animation fans worldwide are flocking to Hangzhou City in east China’s Zhejiang Province for the 21st China International Cartoon and Animation Festival (CICAF), running from May 29 to June 2. Adjacent to the festival’s main venue at the Baima Lake International Exhibition Center, the newly opened China Cartoon and Animation Museum offers an immersive journey into the nation’s rich animation history.
As the first national museum dedicated to animation in China, it boasts an impressive collection of over 20,000 items, including original manuscripts, animation models, and historical artifacts. Visitors can marvel at action figures from popular animated films like “Ne Zha 2,” which are on display during the festival.
Designed to resemble an auspicious cloud, the museum features four exhibition halls. These halls are thoughtfully arranged to function as a drama stage, cinema, library, and audio studio, providing an engaging experience that guides visitors through the evolution of Chinese animation.
The museum not only celebrates China’s animation legacy but also inspires the next generation of animators and storytellers. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the art and industry of animation.
