Wang Yi China India Should Maintain Tranquility in Border Regions

Wang Yi and Ajit Doval Advocate for Border Peace between China and India

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with India’s National Security Adviser Shri Ajit Doval in Beijing on Monday, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in the border regions between the two countries.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted that bilateral relations have made positive progress. He stressed the need for both nations to enhance communication, build mutual trust, and resolve practical issues.

“Only when the dragon and elephant dance together can there be a win-win outcome,” Wang Yi remarked, using metaphoric references to China and India, respectively.

Ajit Doval echoed these sentiments, stating that India and China should view their relationship from a long-term and strategic perspective. He called for enhanced mutual understanding and inclusiveness to expand common interests between the two nations.

“India is willing to strengthen collaboration with China in multilateral fields,” Doval said. He also expressed India’s full support for China’s role as the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in hosting a successful summit.

As two major Asian countries, both officials agreed that China and India can make even greater contributions to the international community by working together.
