Aircraft Carrier Shandong Leads Naval Fleet to Visit Hong Kong

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy’s aircraft carrier Shandong is set to lead a naval fleet to Hong Kong from July 3 to 7, according to an official statement released on Saturday. Approved by the Central Military Commission, the fleet includes the missile destroyers Yan’an and Zhanjiang, as well as the missile frigate Yuncheng.

The fleet will host a series of open tours and cultural exchange activities, offering residents of Hong Kong a unique opportunity to gain a direct and in-depth understanding of China’s advancements in national defense and military development in the new era.

Since Hong Kong’s return to the motherland in 1997, vessels of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy have visited the city multiple times, with the first visit in 2001. These visits aim to strengthen ties and promote mutual understanding between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.
