China’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, is set to embark on an official goodwill visit to Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, and Switzerland from July 23 to 31. As the chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, Zhao aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance parliamentary cooperation with these nations.
During his tour, Zhao will meet with Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly Laszlo Kover, President of the National Council of Switzerland Maja Riniker, and President of the Council of States of Switzerland Andrea Caroni. These meetings are expected to foster mutual understanding and explore opportunities for collaboration across various sectors.
While in Switzerland, Zhao will attend the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament. Hosted by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the conference brings together parliamentary leaders from around the world to discuss pressing global issues and promote international cooperation. IPU President Tulia Ackson and Secretary General Martin Chungong will also be present at the event.
This visit underscores China’s commitment to engaging with the global community and promoting international dialogue. It highlights the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing shared challenges and building stronger partnerships worldwide.
