China and EU Forge Stronger Ties at 25th Summit in Beijing

Global cooperation takes center stage as the 25th China-European Union Summit kicks off in Beijing this Thursday. Leaders from China and the EU are coming together to strengthen ties and tackle worldwide challenges like rising unilateralism and protectionism.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry highlighted the importance of the summit. “This meeting serves the interests of both sides and the world at large,” they said, emphasizing how China-EU relations have become one of the most influential partnerships over the past 50 years.

The timing is significant—it marks the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations and the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. Over the decades, their cooperation has brought real benefits to nearly two billion people and contributed to global peace and development.

Presidents Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen of the European Council and the European Commission will be in attendance. The summit aims to deepen dialogue, enhance strategic communication, and send a positive message about their commitment to openness and collaboration.

“China-EU relations are at a critical juncture,” the spokesperson noted. “We’re building on past achievements and opening a new chapter, facing both new opportunities and challenges.”

China is ready to work with the EU to make this summit a success, reinforcing their partnership and dedication to multilateralism.
