China and Pakistan Strengthen Ties to Combat Terrorism Together

China has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Pakistan in combating all forms of terrorism, emphasizing the strength of their “ironclad” friendship. During a meeting in Beijing on Thursday, Wang Yi, a senior Chinese diplomat and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir.

Wang Yi congratulated Munir on his recent appointment as field marshal, praising the Pakistani military as a steadfast guardian of national interests and a cornerstone of China-Pakistan relations. He expressed confidence in the Pakistani armed forces’ commitment to advancing bilateral ties.

Describing China and Pakistan as “all-weather strategic partners,” Wang highlighted that China consistently prioritizes Pakistan in its neighborhood diplomacy. He stated that Beijing is ready to work with Islamabad to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, deepen strategic cooperation, and contribute to regional peace and stability.

Munir expressed gratitude for China’s longstanding support of Pakistan’s economic and social development. He affirmed that strengthening cooperation with China enjoys widespread support across Pakistani society. He pledged that the Pakistani military will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard Chinese citizens, enterprises, and projects within Pakistan, while actively enhancing counterterrorism collaboration with China.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, underscoring their shared commitment to security and development in the region.
