China’s national women’s volleyball team clinched their third consecutive win at the FIVB Women’s Nations League, defeating long-time rivals Japan 3-1 in a thrilling match on Saturday in Hong Kong SAR.
From the outset, China dominated the game. In the first set, they surged ahead with a 5-1 lead, compelling Japan to call an early timeout. Star player Wu Mengjie powered through with a series of impressive points, helping China secure the set comfortably at 25-15.
The momentum continued into the second set, with China cruising to a commanding 25-12 victory. Japan, however, wasn’t ready to concede. In the third set, they fought back fiercely, jumping to an 8-3 lead and eventually taking the set 25-18.
The fourth set was a nail-biter, with both teams neck and neck at 21-21. China then stepped up, scoring three consecutive points to reach match point. They sealed the victory with a final set score of 25-22.
This win follows China’s previous victories against the Czech Republic (3-1) and Bulgaria (3-2), showcasing their strong performance in this leg of the league.
China is set to face Italy on Sunday night for their final match in the Hong Kong SAR leg of the series. Fans are eagerly anticipating another exciting showdown.
