The excitement is building as preparations for China’s 15th National Games intensify. The organizing committees held a press conference in Guangzhou on Wednesday to unveil the latest developments, aiming to deliver a high-quality event that will elevate the nation’s standards in sports organization.
Co-hosted by Guangdong Province and the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, this year’s National Games promise thrilling competitions across the Greater Bay Area. Guangzhou is set to showcase the diving “dream team,” while fencing enthusiasts can look forward to events at Hong Kong’s brand-new Kai Tak Sports Park. Macao will host popular sports like table tennis and women’s volleyball.
In a bid to make the games accessible, at least 65% of venue seats will be available for public purchase. Fans across all three competition zones can conveniently buy tickets online through a unified platform, with on-site purchasing options also provided.
Technology will take center stage, with humanoid robots leading the torch relay—a futuristic twist that is sure to captivate audiences. An innovative approach to extinguishing the flame is also anticipated at the closing ceremony, adding to the event’s modern flair.
To enhance transportation, key cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Dongguan are launching three inter-city rail lines and seven subway lines, improving connectivity between event venues and accommodation sites. This upgrade not only benefits the Games but also leaves a lasting impact on the region’s infrastructure.
Beyond the competitions, the host cities are leveraging the National Games to promote coordinated development between sports and urban growth, aiming to inspire future generations and foster a vibrant sporting culture.
