Panda Twins Xingxing and Chenchen Celebrate 4th Birthday at Chongqing Zoo

Chongqing Municipality, June 10, 2025 — Thousands of visitors flocked to Chongqing Zoo on Tuesday to celebrate the fourth birthday of giant panda twins Xingxing and Chenchen. The beloved duo, famous on the internet for their playful antics, were the stars of a festive event that delighted guests of all ages.

Zoo staff prepared an elaborate birthday cake crafted from bamboo, fresh vegetables, and fruits—the pandas’ favorite treats. As Xingxing and Chenchen approached the cake, cheers and applause erupted from the crowd. The twins wasted no time digging into the feast, much to the amusement of onlookers capturing the moment on their phones.

“It’s amazing to see them so happy,” said Li Mei, a local resident who brought her children to the celebration. “We’ve been following their growth since they were born, and it’s like celebrating a birthday with family.”

The celebration not only marked a milestone for the twins but also highlighted the ongoing conservation efforts for giant pandas, a species native to China. Chongqing Zoo has been instrumental in breeding and raising awareness about these endangered animals.

“Xingxing and Chenchen have brought joy to so many people,” said Zhang Wei, a spokesperson for the zoo. “Their birthday is a wonderful opportunity to educate the public about wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting natural habitats.”

As the festivities concluded, the panda twins retreated to their enclosure, leaving guests with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for these gentle giants. The zoo invites everyone to continue supporting the conservation of giant pandas and looks forward to many more celebrations with Xingxing and Chenchen.
