Who Says Gazas Al amal Hospital virtually out of Service

WHO: Gaza’s Al-Amal Hospital Virtually Out of Service Amid Military Activity

Gaza’s Al-Amal Hospital, one of the few remaining medical facilities in the Palestinian territory, is “virtually out of service” due to intense military activity, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Access to the hospital is obstructed, preventing new patients from reaching care, and leading to more preventable deaths,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced on Monday via X (formerly Twitter).

Despite the challenges, two emergency medical teams—one local and one international—are “still doing their best to serve the remaining patients with the limited medical supplies left on the premises,” Tedros added.

With the closure of Al-Amal Hospital, the Nasser Medical Complex now stands as the only hospital with an intensive care unit (ICU) in Khan Younis, a city in the southern Gaza Strip.

Earlier, on June 5, the WHO had reported that both Al-Nasser and Al-Amal hospitals were struggling to treat the influx of wounded due to severe shortages of medicines and medical supplies following two months of total blockade.

While Israeli authorities have recently allowed some humanitarian aid into Gaza, the amount falls significantly short of what is needed to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.
