China’s Sun Yujie Strikes Gold at ISSF World Cup in Munich

China’s rising star Sun Yujie clinched the gold medal in the women’s 25-meter pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup held in Munich, Germany, on Wednesday. The 20-year-old shooter showcased remarkable resilience, bouncing back from a challenging qualification round where she secured the last spot among the eight finalists.

Despite the initial setback, Sun dominated the final round, scoring an impressive 38 points to ascend to the top of the podium. This victory marks her third gold in this year’s World Cup series, following her triumphs in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Lima, Peru, earlier in April.

Oh Ye-jin of the Republic of Korea secured the silver medal with 36 points, while her compatriot Yang Ji-in took home the bronze with a score of 32 points. China’s Yao Qianxun, who led the qualification round, finished in fifth place in the final showdown.

The ISSF World Cup will next head to Ningbo in east China’s Zhejiang Province, where athletes will compete in rifle and pistol events from September 7 to 15. The upcoming competition is highly anticipated, offering another platform for shooters to showcase their skills on the global stage.
