Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of dialogue over force in resolving disputes in the Middle East during a phone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Tuesday.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stated that China has always stood on the side of peace and opposes settling conflicts through force.
He expressed concern over actions by Israel and the United States, noting that their use of force against Iran on grounds of “potential future threats” violates international law and infringes upon Iran’s sovereignty. Wang urged all parties to restart dialogue on an equal footing and to bring the Iranian nuclear issue back to the path of political resolution.
Highlighting the core issues in the region, Wang Yi stated that the Palestinian question lies at the heart of Middle East tensions. He stressed the necessity of promoting the implementation of the two-state solution as a fundamental step toward lasting peace.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan echoed Wang’s sentiments, stating that if Israel seeks to safeguard its security, it should accept the two-state solution and halt the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He affirmed Türkiye’s willingness to enhance communication and coordination with China to jointly contribute to peace and stability in the Middle East.
