China is calling for a peaceful solution to the recent border clash between Thailand and Cambodia. On Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun expressed deep concern over the tensions and urged both countries to talk it out.
“Thailand and Cambodia are our friendly neighbors and key members of ASEAN,” Guo said during a news briefing. “It’s in everyone’s best interest to handle differences calmly and maintain good relationships.”
Guo highlighted that China is taking a fair stance and wants to help. “We will keep working to promote dialogue and play a positive role in easing the situation,” he added.
The border dispute has caught the attention of many in the region, as both Thailand and Cambodia play significant roles in Southeast Asia’s stability. China’s call for dialogue underscores the importance of diplomacy in resolving conflicts peacefully.
