Beijing Guoan secured a tight 1-0 victory over Qingdao West Coast at home on Tuesday, climbing to the top of the Chinese Super League (CSL) standings. The win extends their unbeaten run and marks their sixth consecutive triumph at the iconic Workers Stadium.
Qingdao West Coast entered the match aiming to break a four-game winless streak. In the 19th minute, Nelson da Luz nearly put the visitors ahead, breaking into the box only to have his shot expertly saved by Beijing goalkeeper Hou Sen.
The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when Guoan capitalized on a corner kick. Michael Ngadeu’s powerful header struck the post and rebounded off West Coast goalkeeper Li Hao’s back into the net, giving the hosts the lead.
Beijing Guoan had opportunities to extend their advantage before halftime. In stoppage time, Ngadeu unleashed a long-range effort that was parried by Li Hao, and Sai Erjiniao’s follow-up was also denied by the steadfast goalkeeper.
The second half saw both sides battling hard, but neither could alter the scoreline. Guoan’s defense held firm, securing the 1-0 victory. With this win, Beijing Guoan leads the CSL standings on goal difference over second-placed Shanghai Shenhua, while Qingdao West Coast remains in eighth place with only four wins in 14 matches.
